This is the thread for all discussion of offseason activities during the 2100-2101 offseason, our league's first full offseason period. This first post will be updated throughout the offseason and will also include links to other threads or amendment votes that come up during this time.
Sim through 4/4/2101 is complete. Next sim through 4/11/2101 will be Monday night (8/10). THIS WILL BE THE FIRST REGULAR SEASON SIM. IF YOU DO NOT GET YOUR ACTIVE ROSTER DOWN TO 25 THEN I WILL HAVE TO DECIDE WHO GETS SENT DOWN.
Anticipated remaining offseason sim schedule:
Monday 8/10 - Sim to 4/11/2101 (start of regular Su-Mo-We-Fr sim schedule)
-
First thing to discuss is the offseason sim schedule. I recommend keeping it nightly as it was during the last offseason. If there are no (or even not too many) complaints that's how we'll proceed.
The first thing I'm going to do, though, is start looking for replacement owners and setting up the draft in the utilities. I will try to get on those things sometime today but we may not have the first offseason sim tonight.
-
as much as id like to get the offseason going , i think its a good idea to try and fill the empty teams first, give the new gms a chance to do some resignings
-
I agree with every day offseason sims and also with pausing to fill team vacancies...

So far we have a new owner for New York that has registered on the forum. I've received some interest in the open IBL teams but nobody has registered here for the next step. Feel free to recruit for the league and I'll keep trying as well.
-
I'm good with everyday sims and pausing as well
-
Now have an owner signing up for Seoul so we're down to one open team as of right now (still waiting on final confirmation for New York, though).
-
Now have owners for both Seoul and Paris but the New York guy has not responded the last few days. I will re-open New York on the OOTP boards.
-
Okay guys, regardless of status on the New York owner situation we are going to start moving forward again. Apparently the new OOTP patch will require that I re-install all the OOTP Utilities stuff and make sure it's working. So between now and tomorrow (Friday) night's first offseason sim I will be updating all team financials in accordance with WBA Financials (http://www.worldbaseballassociation.com/financials.php) rules, I will be updating OOTP Utilities and loading the draft, and then we will get going.
I will update with any issues that pop up on this thread.
-
awesome lets roll
-
I had to mess with the IBL draft because it was set to serpentine accidentally. I copied the picks up to this point, reset the draft, then manually made all the same picks. That's why none of the first 8 picks have an asterisk even though originally some of them were auto-picked.
-
Also, we should have an owner for New York now. He intends to move the team to Chicago and we'll be updating the logo and uniform shortly.
Please note that I will also be sending out an email to inactive owners soon asking if they want to continue in the WBA. So basically we will still be on the lookout for owners moving forward. 11 teams have exported since Saturday, so 12 teams including me have been involved in the offseason so far. That's not as bad as some leagues I've been in but it's not good so I will be emailing some of the other owners. New York/Chicago is 1 of the 8 teams so hopefully we have a max of 7 teams that aren't involved right now.
-
Hey everyone, I'm the new owner of New York (soon to be Chicago Stockyarders) this is my first online league so I'm probably going to lean pretty heavily on all of you for advice/how-to's.
Excited to get going and to meet all of you.
-
Glad to have you with us and good luck this upcoming season.
-
Welcome aboard! This is my first league as well.
-
Welcome kingfish - good luck and I think you'll find it all pretty straightforward. My first league and the logistics have been pretty easy to pick up. feel free to ask questions.

Illegal Contracts Info
Bogota Condors -
Tommy Gommers signed as a free agent. Excessive annual increase. Contract details:
2101 - $7,200,000
2102 - $7,900,000
2103 - $8,700,000
2104 - $9,300,000
2105 - $9,300,000 (player option)
The contract would be legal if the 2103 amount had been $8,690,000 instead, so basically this $42M contract is illegal over $10K and it looks like an honest effort was made to be legal with a slight calculation error. I am going to lower the 2103 salary to $8,690,000 and leave Gommers on Bogota.
-
Before I proceed let me state that I am going to operate under the assumption that nobody is intentionally trying to skirt the rules. I think we have a good group and I don't want to punish people for simple oversights in a league that's supposed to be fun. Competitive but fun.

Illegal Contracts Info
Los Angeles Stars -
Al Olsen signed a 5-year contract extension. Contract details:
2101 - $3,500,000
2102 - $3,500,000
2103 - $3,500,000
2104 - $3,500,000
2105 - $3,500,000 (team option - $0 buyout)
I am going to change the team option buyout to the minimum required (25%) which comes out to $875,000 in this case.
-
Los Angeles Stars -
Steve Holt signed a 3-year contract extension. Contract details:
2101 - $3,400,000
2102 - $3,400,000
2103 - $3,000,000 (player option)
Contract would be legal if the salary in 2103 were $3,060,000 instead. I am going to change it to this amount.
-
Los Angeles Stars -
Guonçale Gaula signed a 3-year contract extension. Contract details:
2101 - $1,900,000
2102 - $2,100,000
2103 - $2,300,000 (vesting option - 22 games started)
Contract would be legal if the salary in 2103 were $2,090,000 and 2103 were then $2,299,000 instead. I am going to change them to these amounts.
-
Seoul Crushers -
Memduh Kazancigil signed a 5-year contract extension. Contract details:
2101 - $3,500,000
2102 - $4,500,000
2103 - $6,500,000
2104 - $6,500,000
2105 - $6,500,000 (player option)
Okay, this one stings a bit. Good player, new owner. However the extension is too far outside the rules. Maximum annual increase or decrease is 10%. I completely understand a new owner not having a feel for all the financial rules but this contract can't be fixed with a slight adjustment. I am releasing Kazancigil.
-
Seoul Crushers -
Zong-Yuan Ya signed a 4-year contract extension. Contract details:
2101 - $4,460,000
2102 - $4,460,000
2103 - $4,460,000
2104 - $4,460,000 (team option - $1,120,000 buyout)
This one is being flagged for an insufficient team option buyout but that is not correct. Minimum buyout should be $1,115,000 based on the 25% requirement. I will check on the contract check page code and correct that. This is a valid contract. Current contract will remain in effect.
-
Singapore Merlions -
Kareem Saitoti signed a 3-year contract extension. Contract details:
2101 - $750,000
2102 - $850,000
2103 - $950,000
The last two years both violate the annual increase maximum but only by $25K or less and this is not a large contract. I will keep the overall contract value the same and adjust the annual increases to 10% each year. That results in a new contract of
2101 - $770,393
2102 - $847,342
2103 - $932,175
-
Update on the Zong-Yuan Ya situation. For some reason the CSV file export from the game had a value of 0 for the team option buyout despite the game showing the actual buyout. Page code was okay, so I'm not sure what it is but there appears to be an OOTP error.
-
Thanks, Huck. The adjustments and decisions you've made are all reasonable.
-
Okay, I posted the team option buyout issue on the OOTP bug report thread. Until that gets cleaned up I will be double checking whenever the contracts check page (http://www.worldbaseballassociation.com/forum/index.php?page=contracts) shows "Insufficient Team Option Buyout" for a player.
-
My apologies for my bad math on the Gommers contract. I'll make sure that don't happen again ;D
-
Last call for someone to step up as co-commissioner for this weekend. I will be out of town starting tomorrow so if we can't find someone who's comfortable running the sims then we will sim tonight and then again next Monday.
-
I can give it a shot if nobody else has stepped up...maybe you can talk me through the sim today so I can do it on my own the rest of week/weekend?
-
I'm going to take my laptop...I might be able to use a program to run the home computer where the league is run from. Tonight's sim is too complicated because it goes past January 1st so the almanac updates, the history reports need to be run, etc.
-
New York City Empires -
Augusto Gonzáles signed as a free agent. Excessive annual increase. Contract details:
2101 - $2,600,000
2102 - $3,000,000
2103 - $3,600,000
2104 - $4,200,000
2105 - $4,200,000 (player option)
Too many illegal years (and by too much) in order for me to feel comfortable modifying the contract. Gonzáles will be released.
-
Mumbai Cobras -
Memduh Kazancigil signed as a free agent. Excessive annual increase. Contract details:
2101 - $4,000,000
2102 - $4,600,000
2103 - $4,600,000
2104 - $4,600,000
2105 - $4,600,000 (player option)
I am correcting this contract by changing 2102 to $4,400,000 and changing both 2104 and 2105 to $4,800,000. This will result in potentially adding $200K to the contract if he elects to take the option year, however I didn't want to have a salary decrease where he didn't agree to one originally, and I have to make sure the $200K is definitely added to year 4.
-
Seoul Crushers -
Yi-da Wang signed as a free agent. Excessive annual increase. Excessive annual decrease. Contract details:
2101 - $2,980,000
2102 - $3,180,000
2103 - $4,380,000
2104 - $4,600,000
2105 - $3,600,000
Yikes. Even moving the 2105 salary to 2103 with a slight adjustment doesn't work because the jump from $3.6M to $4.38M is still over 20% when the limit is 10%. I am releasing Wang.
-
I have officially opened up Milwaukee and Karachi on the OOTP forums. If any of y'all know a potential owner please let them know.
-
Crap. My bad on the Seoul contract errors. I mixed up the contract rules with another league I'm in. Definitely not trying to do anything crunchy. Apologies guys.
I'll try to review my pending contract offers to be sure they are good before the next sim.
Thx
-
No worries, like I said I think we have a good group and nobody is trying to get away with anything. Not that it would even make sense to try since I wrote the script that automatically checks.
-
Apparently the latest patch fixed the CSV export buyout glitch.
-
Twin Cities Millers -
Jwahir Nathari signed as a free agent. Excessive annual increase.
2101 - $1,800,000
2102 - $2,200,000
2103 - $2,600,000
2104 - $3,000,000
2105 - $3,000,000 (player option)
Nathari will be released.
