Title: Mumbai Murderers' Row
Post by: APMP on September 19, 2017, 10:57:33 PM
For the second offseason in a row, Mumbai went out and hugely upgraded their offense.  Last year, deals were reached with Singapore to add Ninfa Sator and with Paris to add Harsendu Dhruvasula. Both players paid immediate dividends, putting up all-star caliber seasons as Mumbai romped to the IBL Championship Series. Chicks dug the longball.

Perhaps emboldened by their ability to win high scoring games in 2109, and still feeling the sting of not being able to land Cheslav Zamorov, the Mumbai brass has now added Bhuvanacandra Dwijen to what is clearly most fearsome lineup in the IBL.  As an added bonus, Dwijen very likely has the team friendliest deal in the entire WBA.

Nearly 200 years after the New York Yankees' famed Murderers' Row, Mumbai has one of its own. Behold the Cobras projected batting order when fully healthy (2109 stats in parentheses).

While Dwijen is clearly the headliner in this latest trade, Imazighen Kitur also comes to Mumbai in the deal and adds a quality, cost-controlled, shutdown arm in the bullpen.  Kitur, Roberto Flores, and Balya Virendra will form an impressive late game trio, and that's before you consider the tantalizing (yet still unrealized) potential of Chua chay Chan and the possibility that future hall of famer and longtime Mumbai favorite Falco Venema returns.

It would not be surprising if Mumbai looks to add starting pitching depth during the winter to try and offset the loss of veteran leader Andy Stone and the ace potential of Abjeljilill Abedi to a division rival.

But the team has a definite identity for the foreseeable future.

Chicks dig the longball.
