After a disappointing and ineffective 6 year playoff run the Monarchs have run their race. We are going to rebuild and everyone is available.

I left a roster spot open. If you could just put Hernandez on the roster and auto lineups I would appreciate it.

Why not just release them at the end of the regular season? There shouldn't be any kind of penalty, it should just pay off the remainder of the contract.

This is by far the most 'futures' I have ever traded. London is mired in a good but not good enough pattern that is only getting a bit worse each year it seems. We needed to do something. Hopefully this is the right something.

London confirms.

London sends;

LF S. Sumai (dfa)
SP N. Suhrawardi (R)

to Rome for;

LF J. Standish

I hated to move Suhrawardi as he has the best scouting report I've seen, but we needed to make a move to hopefully get over the top.

I left a spot open for Standish if you could plug him in.

Constitutional Amendments / Re: Proposed 2114 Changes
« on: May 28, 2018, 10:18:42 AM »
I think your observations are pretty accurate.

I don't think many will 'bounce back' as you say. I think all players will be affected and just not change as often. Just my opinion of course.

16
Constitutional Amendments / Re: Proposed 2114 Changes
« on: May 18, 2018, 02:47:26 PM »
1. Good if we can figure out a way to do it.

2. Sounds good.

3. I don't mind the storylines, but don't care if they go away.

17
Your entitled to your opinion. I disagree. Ratings are a constant.  They can be changed based on the way the league is setup as there are different modes, but once the league is set they don't change except from 'player development.

We agree on the basics here, I think.

Too many early rounders fail to reach anything close to potential.

The league is pretty well set around what 'should' be the league average.

Therefore if we improve things so that more players hit their potential, we will then have too many higher rated players in the league and no longer strike that balance. How can the average not go up if we see more higher rated players?

18
What doesn't work what way? Ratings are ratings. 7 hitters should hit .250 if the league average is maybe .230. That's why the ratings are color coded, a 7 hitter should be above average. An average hitter should be around a 5. I have been playing ootp for many many years and this league has some of the highest overall ratings I have seen. That your experiences are different I have no doubt, but it doesn't make my statement any less valid. Stars are relative to the overall ratings in the league, but the ratings are a constant unless something has changed drastically in recent versions. I think it has a lot to do with what could happen if we make any changes for 'the point here', so I think it needed mentioning.

I do agree 100% that having that many early round failures is frustrating, I just don't think there's any easy solution without throwing other things off that make it just as mush an issue in my opinion. Again your opinion may vary and that is fine.

19
Understood. It's a very interesting information, and I agree that the number of early busts does seem high.

20
I look at our league in comparison to other leagues i am in and the ratings are actually a bit high. Now I am not talking about who and how many make it, just the overall look of the ratings. If we make it so that more guys are 'stars' then we will be filled with an all star league in which players with average ratings have no use or value. If we want more players to make it out of early rounds then I think they would need to be nerfed considerably in their potentials.

one which doesn't contain as many devastating and dev-wrecking injuries.

That's the big thing for me. I don't mind the # of injuries, it's the numerous long term injuries that lead to more of the same. I also feel like the major injuries happen a lot more often to the better players, but that is just my opinion from my experience.

General WBA Discussion / Re: One Year In...
« on: February 28, 2018, 09:50:08 AM »
If you mess with development this will become an 'all star' league. I think it borders on that already since my team is considered a 4th place team in my division yet they would be a top if not the top team in any other league I have ever been in. I have an 8-7-7 3.5 star SP in the # 5 slot and my team isn't even considered to be good. Now I could see it being done if the quality of the drafts were lowered significantly, then more guys from the top making it would not be as major a change as they would not be quite as good. The WBA has far and away the deepest draft of any league I have ever been in.

London predicted to drop 16 games from last year with the full team returning minus one player who didn't get enough at bats to make that much of a difference. Did everyone else in the division get that much better? If this team of mine is a fourth place team there is something wrong. They would dominate any other league I am in.

I don't mind being the #1 seed and getting knocked out in the first round at all, but if winning the regular season is nothing but a higher seed, then why bother? I will try and come in 3rd of 4th place in the future, that's the goal then.

Well, there is the extra cash/revenue as well, so I guess it's a trade off.

interesting proposed changes. have to give it some thought.

Constitutional Amendments / Re: Amateur Draft Settings

Ok, but regardless of this season I think it would be the fairest thing. You get very little for winning the regular season (Although more in this league then others.) and the playoffs are what it's all about. I much prefer fairness over speed of draft.

http://www.worldbaseballassociation.com/reports/news/html/players/player_2297.html

He is in the last year of a pretty steep contract.

He's an on base machine against righties.

Looking for a reliever or center fielder. Can add prospects/picks. Open to other ideas as well.

We have the 1-10 scale to introduce some doubt/fog of war. The prospect list, as far as I know, is based on the full 1-255 ratings. That's all I meant by that statement.

OK, thanks for the clarification. Yes, I can see that being an issue.

But my position is that the top prospects lists give too much perfect information

Quote
For a game that is 100% based on ratings and numbers

Quote
The last I heard was that the top prospect lists were based on true ratings and there is not any fog of war applied when OOTP compiles the list.

Without scouts are we not seeing things without fog of war? Is there more info given on prospects then on players in the league?

WBA Times / Re: Updated 2110 Predicted Standings
« on: October 05, 2017, 06:54:06 AM »
The DH sucks in real life, agreed 100%.

OOTP has never handled pitcher hitting and pinch hitting very well in the past, so I have always been in favor of the DH in online leagues. That being said, these issues came up numerous versions ago and I don't even remember what they were specifically. I have seen no issues in our league though, so perhaps they actually made some progress in that area.

General WBA Discussion / Re: Commissioner Update on Financial Discussion
« on: October 02, 2017, 11:40:55 AM »
I think #1 is enough, if we need to do anything at all.

#2 I would have to see, but I am leery of all things done outside the game.

I am getting very concerned that we making a lot of major changes very frequently without even seeing the effects of previous changes. I can see this going on every year as someone has something else that they don't like.

48
General WBA Discussion / Re: Financial issues I think we should address.
« on: September 29, 2017, 10:41:02 AM »
1. I also like to build through the draft, which I think is evident. :}

2. I do go a bit too far sometimes in my comments, and I don't think it's quite as bad as I perhaps made it sound, but yes there is a bit too much randomness for my tastes as well.

3. I have been in leagues that have setup their own FA process, and some worked better then others, but I can't recall any specifically working all that well long term. I am sure that a process could be created, but it will likely be quite a bit of work, and Huck already seems to devote quite a bit of time to the league. That being said, if we were to come up with something that took some work I would be willing to assist in whatever way needed, and there are probably others who could as well.

General WBA Discussion / Re: Financial issues I think we should address.
« on: September 29, 2017, 09:46:22 AM »
If all players base their signing extensions on what they can get in FA, then we will need a LOT more $$$$ across the board to keep teams intact. The game judges their values based on the league input the we (the commish) puts in. There is no way for the PC to know that real life GM's are going to bid crazy numbers on guys who are not really worth it based on the scale we set up.

General WBA Discussion / Re: Financial issues I think we should address.
« on: September 29, 2017, 09:42:33 AM »
Gonna play devils advocate here.

1.Pretty normal for ootp in my experience to have few of quality, and very normal for guys to get paid way too much in FA.

2. Everything about ootp is totally random. Prospects are a total crap shoot, as well as many other aspects.

3. Players don't always sign with the highest bidder. the issue I see is the randomness of when they sign. I tend to go from high bid one sim to beat the next, and I just end up hoping that the roulette wheel that decides it stops on me this time around.

I am not saying that there isn't an issue (again) but we just made changes last year and I don't know if it's a good idea to keep changing the rules every year.
