Save success rates, 2125.
« on: August 07, 2020, 01:22:16 PM »
It seemed to me that my closer blew a lot of saves this year so I figured I'd compare him to the other closers in the WBA.  Turns out he was below average but nowhere near the bottom of the list when it came to the percentage of save opportunities that he blew.  Here's the list.  The first number is the total number of save opportunities, the second number is the number of blown saves, and the third number is the success percentage.

chen, groove             31- 1  96.8
hollanda, coqui          29- 1  96.6
whitfield, cobras        52- 3  94.2
rousset, folders         34- 2  94.1
escobedo, stars         48- 3  93.8
foong, dolphins         29- 2  92.9
shimizu, jaguars        50- 4  92.0
lobato, flight              35- 3  91.4
ling, palmchats          23- 2  91.3
vargas, meteors         40- 5  87.5
arenos, toucans         30- 5  83.3
valdez, foxes             41- 7  82.9
datini, pharaohs         22- 4  81.8
ono, emeralds            46- 9  80.4
uborevich, fleur-de-lis 36- 8  77.8
werfel, generals         18- 4  77.8
chalcott, falcons         18- 4  77.8
powell, jacks              11- 3  72.7
gardella, aztecs          36-10  72.2
pierre, dragons           14- 4  71.4

It's interesting to me that the top two guys both pitched for last-place teams.

The guy who hurt his team the most, in my estimation, is Gardella of Mexico City.  He led the league in blown saves, and he did that for a team that was in playoff contention.

Interesting. Very odd that the top guys are bottom of the list. You'd think that should have made them deadline movers. Maybe the new China GM will have a nice piece to sell in Chen.

Yeah, Gardella lost the closer role way too late this season, his performance was the biggest disappointment of the MC season....
