In-game messages are a bit messed up for me

For about 4/5ish sims now, my in-game messages have been all kinds of wacky. See this screenshot for a good example:

I'm still getting all of the messages that I'm supposed to (I think) but I'm also getting random messages intended for other owners,some of which have glitched content. In my linked screenshot, everything from the second exclamation mark (from the top) and up is my regular messages. The 2 sim result emails below that are for Tokyo and LA.  And the contract negotiations below that aren't mine either.

Any suggestions on how to fix this?

I have seen this many times in ootp, but I have no idea how to fix it. It eventually worked itself out when it happened, but again I have no idea why.

I'll try to see if there's a way to fix it or prune messages or something on my end.

This is typical in ootp, especially if and when you miss downloads and/or don't export.  It also happens when sims are longer than usual.  It's been happening since way back to prior versions.  I just ignore the extraneous emails.
