My team won 107 games last season despite a fairly reasonable payroll. Then we had a playoff meltdown and I had to find some way to convince myself that the season wasn't a total loss, so I decided that at least I got a lot of production for the money I spent. That got me wondering which team got the biggest bang for its buck. So I did a quick study. I looked up the Player Expenses for each team, then divided that amount by the wins. The idea was to find out how much each team spent per win. For example, if you spent $50 million and you won 50 games, that would mean you spent $1 million for every win. That would not be a good return on your investment, at least not by WBA's financial setup.
The results of the study are shown below. My team didn't get the biggest bang for the buck; the Dragons did. We were second.
This isn't really all that meaningful because after all the idea is to WIN, not to pay as little as possible per victory. But I thought it would be interesting to see the data anyway. So here you are:
