Just a heads up, but I'm pretty sure I am going to unilaterally change everyone's park factors this evening. The changes will not be extreme, so let me explain.
As we all know, in real life park factors are based on the idea that the league average park factor is 1. This also is part of the OOTP sim engine in that if every single park factor for, say, home runs, was set way above 1 then our league would have more home runs than we'd like even if the stat factors are set properly. At least that's the way I understand it. So all I intend to do is to make it so that the average park factor in each stat equals 1 for each league. So I will take every park factor and multiply it by 1/LgAvg for that factor.
For example, here are Mumbai's current park factors followed by their new adjusted park factors.
LH AVG - 1.000
RH AVG - 1.030
Ovr AVG (OOTP simply calculates this as 0.65*RH AVG + 0.35*LH AVG) - 1.020
Doubles - .825
Triples - 0.750
LH HR - 1.000
RH HR - 1.200
Ovr HR - 1.130
New -
LH AVG - 0.984
RH AVG - 1.037
Ovr AVG - 1.018
Doubles - 0.830
Triples - 0.746
LH HR - 0.992
RH HR - 1.183
Ovr HR - 1.116
Moving forward when a team designs a new stadium the park creator output will be used as the baseline park factors and then this will be applied to the entire league so that the league overall factors are still at 1. This will keep things from getting screwy on the stats. If anyone has a great argument against this please share it.
