Well the import was completed and I've already had a crash.  I'm going to see if there are more issues before uploading the files.

I show the correct values of $57,802,348 and negative $1,614,472 cash.  Unless you're just kidding.  Either way, you are hemorrhaging money good sir.

Yes sir, that is the right thing.  You need to download 7zip, a free program that helps with those files.

http://www.7-zip.org/

Once that's installed you will be able to unpack the archive files to see the .lg folder and install from there.

I had to 'unzip' it twice.  First it was a .tar, then a .gz, then a .lg.

That's correct, you have to unzip it twice.  The .tar.gz file format is exactly what OOTP uses to compress files as much as possible.  It's just that with the normal league file download the game itself takes care of unzipping it.

Sao Paulo Anacaondas renamed to Sao Paulo Toucans

Right-click the .gz file, click "7-zip", click "extract here".  Then do the exact same thing with the resulting .tar file.  You're probably just over thinking it.  And I'm pretty sure that 7-zip will show up in the right-click menu as soon as it's installed.

Edit: you might be able to unzip the file with whatever default unzipping program that your compy comes with. I've just always used 7-zip because it's nice and clean and doesn't ask you to upgrade.

So this is all after you've installed 7-zip.

Locate the .tar.gz folder and select this option:

Then do essentially the same thing to the .tar file that you now have as shown below:

You'll now have a regular folder titled World Baseball Association.lg, place that entire folder in your OOTP 17 saved_games directory.  If you installed normally on a Windows machine you will therefore put it in your folder with this name:

C:\Users\username\Documents\Out of the Park Developments\OOTP Baseball 17\saved_games

I haven't been involved in an online league before.  What exactly is an offseason sim?  Also, can you provide a rough outline of what steps will be taken between now and Opening Day?  I assume those steps will go something like this.  Step 1, get as many new owners as possible.  Step 2, ownerless teams will become computer-controlled drones.  Step 3 is the draft of rookie players.  Step 4, free agency.  Step 5, set rosters.  Step 6, play ball!  Oh, and one last thing.  Is there a hard salary cap, and if so, what is the number?

downloaded new file in-game and it's totally screwed. Click on a player link and you get a random player profile when it opens? Anybody else having this trouble? Downloaded it this morning (Sat 9am your time) so it shouldn't be anything to do with downloading early

This is definitely related to the 4/29 sim export, i redownloaded the league from scratch, everything looked good until I downloaded the latest league file in game.

Okay, somebody attempt to Download Latest League File again.  Let me know if it tells you there's no new one.  In that case I will have to sim a single day.

Of course also let me know if we get lucky and it works and everything is fixed.  I'm hoping that's the case because I did the same thing I did here to fix it:

Works for me! Thanks  :)

By the way there's a new patch out

(from the ootp boards)

Quote
Info for online league commishes: This update changes the file format because of added data. Previous builds will not load league files saved with 17.7.51! So, make sure every user in your online league has updated until you update the league to the new version. However, team exports done with 17.7.51 will work in previous versions, so online league users may update without issues even if the commish has not updated yet.

Thanks for the info.  Everyone please update your installation to the newest patch.  I will update in one week (Saturday 5/7) in order to give everyone else time to update.  Based on the explanation Markus gave that means that you can update at any time and I will be able to import your team export files.  But if you don't update by next Saturday then you will no longer be able to load the league file.

Saw that Darchiev signed an extension with Mumbai.  Max length (5 years) at $8M per year.  Probably a good deal for both sides, he's the best hitter in the World Baseball Association but has trouble staying healthy.  The best overall player, too, in my opinion although some might prefer a plus defender in the middle infield like Ralph Martin.

But now Mumbai locked Darchiev up for roughly half of Martin's contract.

interesting comparison, one cant run, one cant hit lefties....but a 15M contract?  with budgets in this league its like paying Bryce Harper 55M a year, just insane!

My 26-year-old 2B/3B, Hashimoto, also wants $15 million a year.  Granted, he's terrific (hit 42 homers last year), and he's just coming into his prime, but $15 million a year?  What do you guys think about that?  I'm not sure I can afford to keep him.  If anybody wants to talk trade, I'll listen.  He has one more year at $200,000 before he's eligible for free agency.  I'd consider good young talent and/or draft picks for him.

15 is too high, imo.  I calculate what the dollar value of each WAR should be in my leagues to estimate reasonable salaries.  To be worth $15M in the WBA a player would have to produce over 10.5 WAR in a season.  So only Darchiev is actually in that ballpark if you trust the OOTP-generated WAR numbers.  Obviously that's just a starting point and you have to look at team needs, etc. in order to make a determination for your situation.

Huck, on that topic I've noticed that a lot of the "top" free agents don't seem to have offers - I imagine others, like me, are balancing budget issues, but there seem to be 3 teams in each league not participating, which is probably suppressing demand.  Seems like shifting the non-participating teams to AI sooner rather than later may help balance this out...some of the non-participants are sitting on low payrolls.

That's a fair point.  I have emailed the inactive owners to ask for their status and notify them that I'll be moving them to AI control if I don't hear back.  I may do it before tomorrow's sim but won't do it before tonight.  I figure they should have at least 24 hours to respond.

Sao Paulo and Tokyo were moved to AI control.  Singapore responded and says he's still in but he's been traveling.

So current AI controlled teams are Buenos Aires, Karachi, Lagos, Sao Paulo, and Tokyo.

We have a new owner for London and one that has emailed and stated he's interested in Buenos Aires.

Hey Huck,

I just noticed one of my players is on my 40 man and under major league contract even though he's never been on the ML roster - I may have missed this one last offseason when the AI bumped some of our players around.  Is the amnesty program over or can i get a reset on his contract? Player is Armando Lopez, currently Mexico City AAA.  thanks!

Looking at his history he was clearly part of that SNAFU thanks to OOTP in April of the 2103 season.  I will reset his contract and service time after importing team files tonight.  At least I hope to remember to do so.
