General WBA Discussion / Re: Opt outs
« on: December 21, 2016, 02:01:09 PM »
I agree that there is no need to eliminate them but their game utilization seems slightly flawed to me. Opt-outs are generally something a player would want in negotiation for a smaller value on overall contract terms.  Not sure how the engine works or whether players accept less money due to inclusion of opt-out but I've never seen a player request this in the game so there is really no incentive to use it. As a GM there is no apparent upside.

OOTP star ratings make me second guess myself from time to time.  i keep pluggin this guy in waiting for magic but he seems like a 4.5 star bench bat at best...

After some free agent signings, I'm interested trading a SP for a bat, the market was a bit week for outfielders.- looking for a corner outfielder. Willing to take on equal annual contract but can't take on more this season.

Manual Sanchez - signed to 1 year deal.

Huck, my advice would be to run some final tests then make an executive decision.  You have always been fair so there are no worries there- i'm concerned we are going to start losing league interest with too long of a stagnant period.

I am in favor of your proposal - a 5 season or so adjustment should present minimal hardship for teams built around current performance.  thanks for all the work Huck!

I'm selling - anyone with a salary above the min up for discussion.

Short term relief help:
Pedro Moran, free agent after the season.  Rock solid reliever, era inflated due to an ill-advised stint starting.

awesome analysis!

Will be interesting to see - mexico city returning pretty much the same team from being 10 over .500 so that would be a disappointing season. Admittedly, the offensive talent is offensive right now.

Season and Off-Season Threads / Re: 2104 Season Thread
« on: May 24, 2016, 07:09:35 AM »
On the first set of sims, the AI made a bunch of odd lineup choices and pitching choices as well, which contradict how I have my team set up.

For example, in my very first game the AI started my utility infielder at SS and batted him 4th - in my depth chart he "never starts". AI also had players starting at secondary positions.

For my pitching staff, I have the rotation set as a "strict 5-man rotation" and in 5 games, the AI started my top 2 guys twice and a reliever who is not in my rotation.

Any ideas?  I just downloaded the latest file and confirmed my lineup and settings.

Hey Huck,

I just noticed one of my players is on my 40 man and under major league contract even though he's never been on the ML roster - I may have missed this one last offseason when the AI bumped some of our players around.  Is the amnesty program over or can i get a reset on his contract? Player is Armando Lopez, currently Mexico City AAA.  thanks!

Season and Off-Season Threads / Re: 2103-2104 Offseason Thread

Huck, on that topic I've noticed that a lot of the "top" free agents don't seem to have offers - I imagine others, like me, are balancing budget issues, but there seem to be 3 teams in each league not participating, which is probably suppressing demand.  Seems like shifting the non-participating teams to AI sooner rather than later may help balance this out...some of the non-participants are sitting on low payrolls.

not much time left but worth a shot.  putting up my centerfielder, John Parker.

http://www.worldbaseballassociation.com/reports/news/html/players/player_116.html

4 star, gold glove winner, has hit over .300 every season in a pitcher's park.  I have a young CF I'd like to give a chance and I've gotta try to shake up my offense.  Parker is signed for $5m through this year with a player option for the same next year.

Looking for a quality middle infielder or potentially first base help. Can't add salary, prefer to reduce.

Hit me up!

Huck,

I didn't realize the issue until this last sim and noticed my payroll jumped. I have 7 guys that got wrapped in AI shenanigans that I don't want on the 40 man / or with major league contracts:

Armando Lopez AAA
Jorge Valles AAA
Leon Cantrell AA
DionĂsio Vilhais AAA
Joe Durham AAA
McCurdy AA
Jesus Martinez AAA

Should I waive these guys or do you do it directly?

I'm looking at a player who played in the IBL, I'm in the ABL.(MC)  I'd like to check out the stadium factors for his former IBL team - is there anywhere I can do this?  Sorry if this is a dumb question - I can get to the ABL teams in game but not IBL.

Yo, hola, fellow owners, mexico city has some pitching depth and would be willing to part with one of these pitchers for teams who need some low-budget help with their rotations. I'm looking for help at first base (especially left bats) and/or prospects:

Bob Turner - Has performed solidly in my rotation for 2 seasons.  Solid mid-to-back of rotation pitcher.
http://www.worldbaseballassociation.com/reports/news/html/players/player_224.html

Jean-Pascal Lemonnier - Killing AAA.  Underperformed in my rotation last season but is ready for his shot in the majors. I don't have a spot for him with Turner in the rotation, so looking to move one of them.
http://www.worldbaseballassociation.com/reports/news/html/players/player_86.html

Hit me up with an offer!
