I agree that there is no need to eliminate them but their game utilization seems slightly flawed to me. Opt-outs are generally something a player would want in negotiation for a smaller value on overall contract terms. Not sure how the engine works or whether players accept less money due to inclusion of opt-out but I've never seen a player request this in the game so there is really no incentive to use it. As a GM there is no apparent upside.

Huck, my advice would be to run some final tests then make an executive decision. You have always been fair so there are no worries there- i'm concerned we are going to start losing league interest with too long of a stagnant period.

I am in favor of your proposal - a 5 season or so adjustment should present minimal hardship for teams built around current performance. thanks for all the work Huck!

I don't feel strongly either way, but isn't offering an opt-out up to each manager? If you don't like them, just don't use them in contract negotiations. What am i missing?

Will be interesting to see - mexico city returning pretty much the same team from being 10 over .500 so that would be a disappointing season. Admittedly, the offensive talent is offensive right now.

On the first set of sims, the AI made a bunch of odd lineup choices and pitching choices as well, which contradict how I have my team set up.
For example, in my very first game the AI started my utility infielder at SS and batted him 4th - in my depth chart he "never starts". AI also had players starting at secondary positions.
For my pitching staff, I have the rotation set as a "strict 5-man rotation" and in 5 games, the AI started my top 2 guys twice and a reliever who is not in my rotation.
Any ideas? I just downloaded the latest file and confirmed my lineup and settings.

Hey Huck,
I just noticed one of my players is on my 40 man and under major league contract even though he's never been on the ML roster - I may have missed this one last offseason when the AI bumped some of our players around. Is the amnesty program over or can i get a reset on his contract? Player is Armando Lopez, currently Mexico City AAA. thanks!

Huck, on that topic I've noticed that a lot of the "top" free agents don't seem to have offers - I imagine others, like me, are balancing budget issues, but there seem to be 3 teams in each league not participating, which is probably suppressing demand. Seems like shifting the non-participating teams to AI sooner rather than later may help balance this out...some of the non-participants are sitting on low payrolls.

not much time left but worth a shot. putting up my centerfielder, John Parker. http://www.worldbaseballassociation.com/reports/news/html/players/player_116.html4 star, gold glove winner, has hit over .300 every season in a pitcher's park. I have a young CF I'd like to give a chance and I've gotta try to shake up my offense. Parker is signed for $5m through this year with a player option for the same next year. Looking for a quality middle infielder or potentially first base help. Can't add salary, prefer to reduce. Hit me up!

I decided to go pitching heavy in the draft and boy, Mexico City can pitch. Unfortunately can't get out of a wet paper bag with the bats. Let's see what the post-season brings, will be interesting to see we can score any runs...
