ALL POST IT PRICES ARE NEGOTIABLE! POST IT IF YOU THINK IT'S FAIR BUT DM ME TO NEGOTIATE!

CL Natale Datini - 10/8/7. Ratings-wise he should be a closer for every team in the league. He sucks, though. I don't know why. By rating I'd ask for a 1st but will give a discount because of stats and say post it for a 2nd, to any ABL team. Sold

2B Keith O'Malley - Former 3rd overall pick. 7/9/5/5/9 batting ratings. Should play 1B, could play 2B if necessary. Post it 2nd

CF Bang-xao Fung - 6/7/5/5/6 vs LHP, very good defender at CF and could be elite in the corners with some time spent there. Post it 4th

CF Samuel Beamish - Australian. Elite defender in LF, good in CF and RF. Bad but not unusable bat. Post it 5th

2B/SS Eugênio Locher - Has a cool thing on the e in his name. Also an elite defender at 2B and above average at SS. Post it 5th

1B Tristan Vantassell - 8 gap and 8 power. Ignore everything else. Also not a terrible pitcher. Post it $1

C Alejandro Yera - 6/7/5/6/8 vs RHP. Has a little fire thing next to his name. Left handed. Post it $1

P Shamsedeen Ukiru - 9/5/8, 2.5 pitches but has been starting in AAA and doing well. Could also be a very solid reliever (11/5/8). Post it 3rd

SP Boboy Espina - 9/5/8 with three excellent pitches. ERA of 2.92 at home this year. Very good starter for a Hucklepark, probably serviceable anywhere. Post it 3rd

RP Jilenko Belgica - 10/5/8, up to 10/6/8 vs lefties. Post it 4th

Anyone on my AAA roster is available except Wyatt, Lim, and Riggins (who could all move in a package for a star SP or something, I guess). I'm looking for an 8/7/6 SP with a cheap contract.

Passive-aggressive disclaimer - these are POST IT prices. Post them if you think they're fair or a bargain. If you don't think they're fair but are still interested in the player, DM me! I will negotiate!

Can't DFA Aromin because of 40 man roster so he's still just in the ML bullpen. Please promote Luis Perez to the majors and set him to middle relief with normal usage. Please also put Stevense on my AAA team as starting CF and backup RF (every 4th game) vs both RHP and LHP. Thanks Huck

Very small and unfortunate update:

Somehow my export didn't go through after I compiled all this data. Since then, seven of the 110 players with a 1 changeup in the 2127 draft class have developed their changeup, including three whose potential was 6+. Unfortunately, I simply have no way to know who they were, I just know that my lists only have 103 and 29 names, instead of 110 and 32. So these guys just won't be included in the data, which will probably make it seem slightly worse than it is, but there's nothing I can do about it. Sorry.

Update #4: 2127 Draft

Well, I lied. Said I was gonna do two of these per season, and lo and behold, a whole season goes by. Well, nevertheless, the 2127 draft class is out, so let's look at how changeup development is going!

First, I want to look back at the 2126 draft class one year later. There were 30 players in that class whose changeup was currently 1 and potential at or above 6. Of those, 17 (!!!) have seen some development, for a rate of 56.7% just one year later! Of course, there's no guarantee that they'll all develop fully - 10 of the 17 only developed to 2 - but it's definitely a promising sign for those who drafted changeup pitchers this year. The best performer was Tokyo's José López. Last update, I wrote:
Quote
Potential top pick José López [is] one of the biggest risks in WBA draft history, with a 1/11 changeup.
The risk paid off for Tokyo, who drafted him 2nd overall, and his changeup has already increased to 5/11 within a year. Of the 16 teenage draftees in the 2126 draft (who are 19 and 20 years old now), 8 of them developed their changeup (50%), while of the 14 20+ year olds, 9 of them developed their changeup somewhat (64.3%). Of course, this is a very small sample size, so not many conclusions can be drawn - but let's just say the assumption of "teenagers with risky changeups are more likely to develop than older draftees with risky changeups" is so far not being borne out by the evidence.

The 2127 draft class had 110 players with a current changeup of 1, 32 of whom with potential 6 or higher. These include 5th overall pick Maroof Virk of Havana, who will probably reach the majors only as a center fielder, but isn't a bad pitcher either, and 27th overall pick Attilio Badaloni of São Paulo, a 3.5 star pitcher who probably fell to the 2nd round solely because of his changeup. The list also includes one three-star SP, five 2.5-star SPs, one 2.5 star RP, and one 2.5 star CF (Rio's Ysmael Quenery, who isn't a very good pitcher, but he is a 2.5 star prospect so I felt like mentioning him), plus many more 2-star or lower players. Normally, I'd post this before the draft, so none of these prospects would have teams yet, but I was late so here we are. I'm also putting the 2127 draft class in a separate list, so we can continue to analyze them as a group and gain more age data.

Of the 111 players on my initial list, 58 of them have seen some development, for a rate of 52.3%, only slightly higher than a full year ago. The number that have developed to 6 or higher has risen to 8, a rate of 7.2%, and 5 have hit their full potential (4.5%). Honestly, that's much lower than I expected given where it was a year ago. I assumed that once they start developing, they'd keep going uninterrupted, but so far that doesn't seem to be happening. It could change, though, the majority of players on this original list are still younger than 24, and quite a few are 20 or 21.

In total, 87 players with 6+ potential changeups have seen development of some kind, including 10 reaching 6+ current rating. The best performer is Rome's Ji-an Loong, whose changeup reached 9/9 recently.

Finally, during my last update, I said this:
Quote
Last update I mentioned that two players had developed out of the blue, with massive increases in their potential changeup as well as their current changeup. That was at the beginning of the 2126 season, which is now coming to an end, yet nobody else has done that. My current working theory is that it's an offseason thing - both of those guys had their insane development boost in December, so I'll definitely be keeping an eye out for that over the next few months.
While I hadn't posted any updates in a while, I did keep an eye on that, and by opening day of 2127, that remained true - so imagine my surprise when 3 new pitchers joined the ranks of random changeup elixir development. I've previously mentioned Abhramu Gurudutt and Carl Taylor. Taylor, by the way, has disappeared from OOTP and S+, which I assume means he retired and was deleted since he had no major league experience. Since then, Havana's Aaron Hoolahan has had his actual and potential changeup increase from 1 to 9, while Melbourne's William Ford had his increase from 1 to 10. Interestingly, Ford's development mirrored Gurudutt's - it jumped hugely overnight (Gurudutt's from 1 to 7, Ford's from 1 to 9), while Hoolahan's was much more gradual, jumping from 1 to 3 and then in increments of 1 over a period of about a year. But so far, everyone who's taken this elixir has been a pretty underwhelming talent - Gurudutt and Hoolahan will never see the major leagues, and Ford is unlikely to. But I've saved the best for last. Allow me to introduce you to Tokyo's Kamesh Naini, drafted in the 10th round of the first 2124 draft as an 8/6/5 reliever. Since then, his movement potential has increased to 8 and his control potential to 7, a very good development bump on its own. But his changeup has increased from 1/1 to 10/10, bringing him from an 8-stuff reliever to a 9-stuff starter with three elite pitches. Naini's changeup increased gradually, in increments of 1, most recently just this past sim. He's also had slight potential improvements on his other two pitches, a 6/9 cutter and 4/10 slider.

That does it for this update. If you'd like me to track any specific data, let me know. I'll (hopefully!) do another one of these around opening day.

WBA Times / Melbourne Meteors Retired Numbers
« on: December 07, 2020, 04:32:24 PM »
The Melbourne Meteors are proud to retire the numbers 49 and 64 to honor outfielder Stéphane Salomon and infielder Tamirat Sifiye.

The first overall pick in the 2101 IBL draft, Stéphane Salomon is rare among Meteors for being a very good player who was never traded. He is one of a small group of players to play for all three iterations of the franchise - the Tokyo Samurai, Brisbane Bandits, and Melbourne Meteors. He hit .243, slugged .478, hit 258 home runs, and accumulated over 50 WAR in 11 seasons. He also earned four Silver Slugger awards (three at center field, one at right field) and one Gold Glove at center field. He sits 19th in WBA history for career isolated power, and owns the Melbourne franchise record for WAR, runs, home runs, RBIs, and games played.

The 11th overall pick in the 2103 IBL draft, Tamirat Sifiye spent only part of his career with the Melbourne franchise. In his ten total seasons there, he hit .315 and accumulated 41.63 WAR. He was eventually traded to the Buenos Aires Dolphins, for whom he gathered another 25.26 WAR, in a trade that the Meteors GM now acknowledges as his "biggest mistake". However, Sifiye remained on good terms with the Meteors, and at the close of his career, was traded back to Melbourne, where he played the final six games of his career. Sifiye is 13th in WBA history for career on-base percentage (exactly .400), eighth all-time in hits (2,491), seventh in runs (1,448) and third in stolen bases (611), and is the Melbourne franchise leader in career batting average (.314). He also finishes with 79.33 total WAR, ninth all time, and since a majority of his WAR was for Melbourne, he will wear a Meteors jersey and cap into the Hall of Fame if and when he is inducted.

Trade Blocks and Discussions / Melbourne 2127-28 Offseason Trade Block
« on: December 01, 2020, 03:33:51 PM »
Of immediate concern: 3B Guillermo Carvajal - Getting up there in age but can still hit. 1.1 WAR this year as mostly a sub, could probably start for some teams, particularly vs lefties (6/8/7/8/9). Also with 6/6/8/7/5/8/10 defensive ratings, he's best at 3B but can be used at 2B, LF, or RF. Has a team option for this season at $4m, I'm not planning to keep him so he'll be very cheap. If you want him, yours for a 5th, but you have to let me know soon, the option will happen within a few days and if I don't get any interest I'll just lose him.

Available whenever:

1B Gunadhara Upanishad - 7/7/8/7/6 vs both hands, decent fielder at 1B. 1.4 WAR last year in only 42 games started. Should be starting and doesn't have room here in Melbourne.  Willing to talk trade on him but don't have a specific price. I'm also not sold on moving him, but if you want him, make an offer.

CL Natale Datini - 10/8/7, pretty bad in Melbourne but had good underlying stats and got BABIPed to death (3.23 FIP is pretty good). Very cheap $1.4m contract for three more years. As I wrote this I realized I don't really want to trade him, but I'll listen to offers.

SP Boboy Espina - 9/5/8 with very good stats at home (2.29 FIP, 1.89 ERA), as you'd expect from a low-movement guy in my park. He'd be very good for a specific type of ballpark. Two years left at $3.4m, second year is a team option. I'll ask for a 2nd and would probably take a 3rd.

C Alejandro Yera - 6/7/5/6/8 vs RHP, pretty bad-looking defensive ratings but decent defensive stats (only -3.2 ZR in 129 games in his last full season in the majors). Also had 2.7 WAR that year. Asking for a 4th.

Pretty much anyone else on my AAA roster can move (except Mesa). Younger ones would tend to cost more. There's a lot of AAAA talent there that should probably be in the big leagues.

Also, I need a really good 2B. I'd be open to some sort of package deal involving Datini+Upanishad or something for the right player. I can also move prospects.

WBA Times / Re: What's At Stake: 2127
« on: November 24, 2020, 04:51:39 PM »
18 games remain in the regular season, and the playoff races are as tight as ever. It'll be exciting to see which teams will make it in (or, if you're a manager of one of the struggling teams, sort of terrifying). This week features several important matchups:

In the ABL, the Dolphins' division lead has shrunk to four games, but they'll have a chance to essentially clinch the division this week, taking on the mediocre Los Angeles Stars before facing the second-place Santo Domingo Palmchats, the only team who can realistically catch the Phins. A good week will lock down the #1 seed, while a loss to the Palmchats could allow the division lead to slip.

Santo Domingo, meanwhile, has to worry about holding their first wild card spot. Six games clear of the first non-playoff team, the Palmchats seem pretty likely to make the playoffs, but a WC1 matchup against the North American winner is much more appealing than facing Havana in the first round. Santo Domingo is only three games ahead of the Rio de Janeiro Jaguars for the first wild-card spot, and faces the Northwest Emeralds before their matchup with Havana (a must-win to keep hopes of the division title alive, although not a must-win for a playoff spot).

Rio has a chance to make a push for the first wild-card as well, facing the league-worst Edmonton Trappers and the Emeralds. Just three games out of the WC1 and three games clear of losing the WC2 spot, Rio could really use a winning sim, and with some winnable matchups, this is the week to do it.

Rio's job will be made harder by the easy schedule of the São Paulo Toucans, who face the Mexico City Aztecs and Puerto Rico Coqui. A three-game deficit with 18 to play is doable, but the Toucans can't afford a bad week if they want to make the playoffs.

Over in the NFC East North American Division, the Phoenix Burros managed to maintain their one-game lead over the rest of the division. They'll face Puerto Rico before a crucial divisional clash with Mexico City, who are just two games behind. With a good week, Phoenix could make the job of their chasers much more difficult, and could essentially eliminate the Aztecs.

The Los Angeles Stars face the league-best Havana Dolphins and league-worst Edmonton Trappers. They'll need a very good series against Edmonton to offset some probable losses to Havana. Just one game behind Phoenix, but four games behind Rio for WC2, the Stars (and Emeralds, who have the same record) will probably need to catch Phoenix to have any shot at the playoffs, and perhaps a good showing vs the Dolphins could prove that they belong there.

This is a "prove it" week for the Northwest Emeralds, who face the Palmchats and Jaguars. By record, the Emeralds seem mediocre, but they have one of the best run differentials in the ABL. If they're truly a playoff team, they shouldn't just roll over and lose to the Latin American teams - which is good, because in such a tight race, they can't afford to. Northwest could make a statement with a good week, or could fall completely out of contention with a bad one.

The Aztecs are in an odd position. Two games back with 18 to play doesn't seem too difficult, but they have to catch and overtake three different teams to make it to the playoffs. Every win is essential, and they'll have two tough but winnable matchups, facing São Paulo and Phoenix, the latter of which is essentially a must-win.

Over in the IBL, the Mumbai Cobras are 14 games clear of the entire league, and with 18 left to play, it's safe to say they'll be the #1 seed. Cairo is six games ahead of their division, and should lock down the division title this week, as they play the two worst teams in the league, the Tokyo Shogun and Paris Fleur-de-Lis.

The Ljubljana Dragons have a five-game buffer in the first wild-card spot, and could gain even more ground this week, as they'll face the Karachi Falcons and Rome Generals (who are currently in WC2). The Dragons-Generals series could essentially clinch the first wild-card for Ljubljana with a win.

The Generals, on the other hand, should be more worried about defending their second wild-card spot, as they'll face the Mumbai Cobras before playing the Dragons. A sweep of Ljubljana could open up the WC1 race, but a bad week could cause the Generals to lose their three-game buffer in the WC2 spot. They'll need a decent week.

The Manila Baseball Team have a huge opportunity, as they'll play Paris and Tokyo and sit only three games outside the playoffs. A 6-0 week is definitely possible, and that could close the gap in one fell swoop.

The Melbourne Meteors are four games behind Rome, but will need to overtake Manila as well. This week is a must-win, as they'll play the Black Forest Foxes and Karachi Falcons, and need to win both series (and probably sweep one) to have a real chance at the playoffs.

WBA Times / What's At Stake: 2127
« on: November 23, 2020, 06:16:51 PM »
With just 4 weeks left in the regular season, it's time to bring back What's At Stake. This year, I'll just do weekly updates as replies to this post. Heading into September, we've got some exciting races in both leagues - let's take a look.

In the ABL, the league-leading Havana Dolphins sit 5 games clear of the rest of the Latin American Division. With two series against non-divisional teams - the Mexico City Aztecs and Edmonton Trappers - a good week could lock down the division title.

The Dolphins are being chased by the Santo Domingo Palmchats (5 games back)  and Rio de Janeiro Jaguars (6 games back). Both of these teams also play outside the division this week, with Santo Domingo matching up against Edmonton and the Los Angeles Stars, while Rio will take on the Phoenix Burros and the Aztecs. Any (or all) of the Latin American top three could easily go 6-0 this week, making a winning sim even more important. The window to catch up to the Dolphins likely ends this week, unless we see some surprise losses.

The most interesting race in the ABL is the North American Division title race. With the Burros sitting just one game above .500, followed closely behind by the Stars and Northwest Emeralds at exactly .500 and Aztecs one game below, it's highly likely that this division will only have one playoff team (again). That makes this week hugely important for the four teams in contention, as Phoenix takes on Rio and the São Paulo Toucans, LA plays the Puerto Rico Coqui and the Palmchats, Northwest meets São Paulo and Puerto Rico, and Mexico City plays Havana and Rio. With all due respect to the Coqui, it's hard to deny that LA and Northwest have the easier schedules for this week. We may have a much clearer picture of the North American pretty soon.

Finally, the Toucans shouldn't be counted out of the playoffs yet - just four games outside the wild card (yet with the same record as the North American leaders), São Paulo needs a big week pretty soon. With no divisional matchups, they'll look to make up some ground with wins against Northwest and Phoenix. A bad week could dash their hopes, while a good week (plus some luck) could bring them back within striking distance.

Over in the IBL, the Mumbai Cobras have already clinched the Asian Division title, and sit 14 games ahead of the Cairo Pharaohs for the #1 seed. They'll play the Paris Fleur-de-Lis before matching up with Cairo, but it's hard to pretend these games matter much to Mumbai, who've essentially locked down home-field advantage.

Cairo, meanwhile, leads the Afro-European Division by seven games. They'll match up with the Karachi Falcons before playing Mumbai. Cairo won't clinch the division this week, but barring any sort of collapse, they should be able to put a stranglehold on it.

In the actual close race, the Ljubljana Dragons have surged out of nowhere to take a four-game lead on the first wild card. They're not mathematically eliminated from the division title yet, but are more than likely going to focus on defending the wild card - and with series against the Manila Baseball Team and Melbourne Meteors, who are five and four games away, respectively, the Dragons have an opportunity to put a lot of distance between them and their chasers - or they could see their lead slip away.

The Meteors are currently tied with the Rome Generals for the second wild-card, and they will play the Generals followed by the Dragons. This is a crucial few games for the Meteors, who could catch Ljubljana with a good week or fall out of the playoffs entirely with a bad week.

Rome has it slightly easier. They'll look to take sole possession of the wild card with a series win against Melbourne, then play the struggling Karachi Falcons. A good week could leave the Generals fairly well positioned in the playoff hunt.

After firing their manager over a botched trade negotiation, and amidst rumors of other managers pressuring the team into a name change, the Manila Baseball Team has fallen out of playoff position. But with new management finally stepping in, the Baseball Team has time to turn their season around, especially being just one game out of the wild card (although behind two tied teams). They'll play the Dragons and the newly-tanking Black Forest Foxes, and with some losses by Rome and Melbourne, could see themselves in a playoff spot by the end of the week.

CF George Sidford - currently hitting .278 and has 1.4 WAR in just 161 plate appearances. Good defense in all three OF spots. Should absolutely be starting, but blocked on my team. Post it - late 1st or early 2nd (use your judgment)

C Alejandro Yera - 7/8/5/6/8 vs RHP, and yes Casey, a left handed catcher! 2.7 WAR last season, 0.9 this year in the pros in just 45 games plus 1.1 in AAA in 39 games. Post it - late 2nd or early 3rd

3B Raúl Sierra - 9 rating at 3B including 11 arm, should win a gold glove in the pros. Not a great hitter but could be a very good defensive sub. Post it - 3rd

SS Eugenio Locher - Plus defense (8/7/10/10) at any infield position. Not good hitting ratings but hitting .273 in AAA for 4.3 WAR in 95 games. Post it - 4th

SP Mansoor Domki - Consistently excellent AAAA pitcher who can probably play in the pros somewhere. 4.6 WAR last year, 2.8 so far this year in 19 starts. Post it - 5th

P Harold Threlfall - Has 3 very good pitches, but always performs better in the bullpen. 10/5/7. Could be a steal. Post it - 4th

2B Bill Hurley - 11 contact vs LHP. Having a really bad year but hit .360 vs lefties last year and .385 the year before. Could be used as a platoon. Post it - 5th

Any other AAA pitcher except Kudo, Kakazai, and Schulberg could move, feel free to make an offer.

Also, I have a lot of defense-first shortstops in my system, particularly Axel Monck, Panthea Metrofanis, Orrin Tsougarakis, and Sherman Hammond. Any of these can be had for a 2.5 star prospect (or, possibly, a 2-star prospect of my choice).

All post-it prices are final if posted but feel free to negotiate if nobody else posts a trade, I'm always open to suggestions.

Update, I exported all the changes myself. Please put Jong as starting C vs RHP and backup vs LHP. Yera should be in AAA if my changes went through.
