The 8-7 Ottawa win over Mexico City was due in large part to Yu Esqueira. The Whiskey Jacks right fielder went 3 for 4 with a double, 2 singles, and a walk, while scoring 2 times. Victor Castillo picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 1-3. Miguel Jaime was tagged with the loss. Mexico City falls to 15-12.

The knockout blow came in the top of the ninth inning. That's when pinch hitter Alex Checo stepped to the plate with runners on 1st and 3rd and hit a 2-run double, to win the ballgame.

"We had the game right there for the taking," said Mexico City manager Mexico City Aztecs. "But we decided not to take it."
