Paço Lowndes never let the Aztecs get in a groove. The right-hander used his bread and butter, his cutter, to pitch the Stars to a win, 2-1. The winner was Enrique Escobedo in relief. His record improves to 3-3. Nicholas Truslove took the loss. With the win, Los Angeles pushed its record to 26-21.

Coming to the plate with one out in the bottom of the ninth inning, Los Angeles first baseman Hastings Gottlieb had a chance to be the hero. Facing Mexico City pitcher Nicholas Truslove with the bases loaded, Gottlieb, who was drafted in the 2nd round of the 2111 draft, hit a walk-off run-scoring single.

"It was a solid team effort," said Gottlieb after the game.
