Rome right-hander Dylan Ainslie pitched his team to victory over the Melbourne Meteors at The Colosseum. The final score was 4-3. The save went to Vittore Buenaventura, his 2nd this season. The win gives Rome a record of 2-0.
Jim Kirk had a clutch at-bat with two out in the bottom of the sixth for the Generals. Coming up with runners on 2nd and 3rd and Rome trailing 2-1, he hit a 2-run single.
"I'm just looking for a good pitch that I can hit well," said Kirk. "And not try to do too much."
