The Melbourne Meteors and China Groove put on a pitchers' duel.
The Melbourne Meteors picked up a win at Meteor Crater, knocking off the China Groove, 1-0. On the mound for Melbourne was left-hander Hung-k'uei He, who played a pivotal role in the win. The loss makes China 1-4.
Maximiliano Niccoli went 1 for 4 for Melbourne. The 29-year old center fielder had a key at-bat in the bottom of the fifth. With one out and runners on 2nd and 3rd, he broke a 0-0 tie with a run-scoring ground out off Jordan Craig. It was his 1st RBI of the season.
He called the win "a team effort."
