The home crowd had a good time watching the Puerto Rico Coqui and Santo Domingo Palmchats get after it.

Santo Domingo starter Ruben Diaz had a strong outing against the Puerto Rico Coqui at Palmchats Ballpark. The left-hander was a big part of his team's 9-3 win. Diaz, now 7-4, was the winner. In 7.1 innings, he gave up 7 hits, while striking out 7, walking 2, and allowing 3 runs.

Santo Domingo catcher Josh Pence gave his club a productive at-bat in the bottom of the sixth inning. With runners on 1st and 2nd and the Palmchats leading 6-2, Pence hit a 3-run home run.

"The key at this level is throwing strike one," said Diaz. "Successful pitchers do it."

The Palmchats are now 28-30, while the Coqui fall to 32-26.
