|
Rio de Janeiro pitcher Matilde Brehm played a vital role in his team's 4-2 triumph over São Paulo. He threw 7 innings of shutout ball for Rio de Janeiro. Brehm, now 6-6, was the winner. In 7.1 innings, he gave up 5 hits, while striking out 1, walking 1, and allowing no runs. The triumph puts Rio de Janeiro at 43-39 for the season.
Rio de Janeiro took a 2-0 lead on John Buschlen's 15th double of the season. The run-scoring double, which Buschlen hit in the bottom of the seventh, left São Paulo pitcher Jose Medina shaking his head.
"You can't get too high when things go well, or too low when things go bad. Right now, I'm just happy we got the win," Buschlen told the Rio de Janeiro Daily News.
