5-Hit Game for Parra
Friday, June 30th, 1939
A jubilant Miguel Parra joined the postgame press conference at Palmchats Ballpark today to offer some unusual words of encouragement -- for the Santiago Caballeros pitching staff he had just vanquished.
"It may not have looked like it," said the Cebu Cybermen third baseman, "but I saw some awful good pitches today. If luck hadn't been on my side it might have turned out a lot different."
That would not have been the conclusion of anyone who saw his dominant 5-for-5 hitting performance, which led the Cybermen to a 7-5 win.
"He made it look easy," said , manager of the Caballeros. "We never figured out what to do with him. Obviously."
Miguel Parra singled in the 1st, tripled in the 3rd, hit an RBI single in the 4th, singled in the 6th, walked in the 8th and hit an RBI single in the 9th.
Parra is hitting .284 for the season with 2 home runs, 26 RBIs and 35 runs scored. He has 89 hits in 313 at-bats and played in 78 games.
