Wednesday, July 26th, 1939
David Cortez had an answer for everything the Bayamón Coqui threw at him today at Ballpark of New York City. The Adelaide shortstop went 5-for-6 in the game to put his name in the record book and put the Bite on top, 20-4.
Summing up his batting philosophy to BNN writers after the game, Cortez said, "I just see the ball and I hit it."
David Cortez singled in the 2nd, tripled in the 3rd, hit an RBI single in the 5th, singled in the 7th, singled in the 8th and grounded out in the 8th.
Looking at his present stats, Cortez has compiled a .218 batting average in 100 games with a .313 on-base percentage, while hitting 2 home runs and driving in 34 runs.
