Valencia's Flores Gets FAA Player of the Week Monday, May 1st, 1939 26-year-old Humberto Flores made a few Valencia headlines during this past week as the rookie shortstop proved he could compete at the plate with his high-school idols. He captured the attention of fans, journalists and FSSL Double A officials last week and today took home Player of the Week honors for his effort. He cracked 12 hits in 19 at-bats to put up a .632 average. Flores collected 1 home run, 6 RBIs and scored 6 runs. This season Flores is batting .321 with 25 hits and 1 home run. He has scored 10 times and has 11 runs batted in. |
