Perez Top FA Pitcher in August Friday, September 1st, 1939 There's something about a young rookie winning the FSSL Class A Pitcher of the Month trophy that sends shock waves through the league. Such is the case with Juan Perez, a 24-year-old starter for the San Pedro Stone Faces. In August, he topped off the month with a 3-1 mark and 1.60 ERA in 4 starts, tossed 33.2 innings, fanned 14 and held opposing teams to a .226 average. Since joining the league, Perez has compiled an ERA of 4.82 with a career record of 29-23. He has 202 strikeouts in 457.2 innings and has held opponents to a .299 batting average. |
