Grieves Shuts Out Quezon City, 5-0 Monday, July 31st, 1939 Ryan Grieves held the Quezon City Ood to 1 hit and fashioned a fine 5-0 shutout at Puerto Rico Grounds today. Speaking after the game, Caguas Coqui manager said "Grieves had everything going for him today." He changed speeds effectively, stayed down, had a lot of movement," he said. "He was masterful." Grieves rung up 6 strikeouts and surrendered 1 walk in the game. "We couldn't get anything going. He certainly had our number," Quezon City manager told reporters. This year Grieves has compiled a 12-7 mark with a 1.88 ERA. |
