Thunderbirds Earn 2-1 Win Versus Aztecs
The El Paso Thunderbirds eked out a 2-1 win versus the Mexico City Aztecs at Thunderdome. Nobody did more than pitcher Tien Dung Long. He was terrific. El Paso reliever Ben Middleton snagged the win, upping his record to 1-0. Moos van der Woerdt shouldered the loss. The defeat makes Mexico City 6-5.

El Paso took a 2-1 lead on Gianpaolo Belmondo's 1st home run of the season. The solo home run, which Belmondo hit in the bottom of the eighth, left Mexico City pitcher Moos van der Woerdt visibly frustrated.

"Really good pitchers have that ability to raise their game when they need to," said El Paso manager AP MP.
