Abdul-Mu'izz, Jaguars March to 8-2 Victory
|
The Rio de Janeiro Jaguars defeated the Chicago Beefs, 8-2, in part because of left fielder Abdul-Sabur Abdul-Mu'izz. Abdul-Mu'izz went 2 for 2 with a home run and 3 walks, while scoring 2 and driving in 3 for the Jaguars. Mathias Lefort picked up the win, improving his season record to 1-1. He struck out 2 in 5.1 innings. Rio de Janeiro, now 9-5, has played well in the early going.
Rio de Janeiro used the hitting of Leo Brooks to pick up the win. The first baseman clubbed a 3-run home run in the top of the first inning to put the Jaguars on top, 3-0. For the game, Brooks had 1 home run and 1 single in 5 at-bats.
Abdul-Mu'izz attributed the win to his team's "focus and intensity."
