Alcova Collects Cycle
Getting 4 hits in a game is no easy feat, but doing it to hit for the cycle is even more rare.

Johan Alcova of the El Paso Thunderbirds pulled it off at Toucans Ballpark, going 4-for-5 against the Sao Paulo Toucans. His batting escapades sparked the Thunderbirds to a win, 8-6.

Alcova tallied 2 runs and drove in 1 during the game. Hitting for the cycle is particularly rare because of the different skills required - enough power for a home run, enough speed for a triple and enough patience at the plate to see at least four hittable balls.

"It just happened," Alcova said to reporters after the win. "Must have been fate or something, I wasn't expecting it. Heck, I wasn't even really trying for it."

Johan Alcova tripled in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, grounded out in the 5th, doubled in the 7th and hit a solo-shot off Roger Oldford in the 9th.

Alcova is currently batting .250 with 2 home runs, 5 RBIs and 9 runs scored. He has 19 hits in 76 at-bats.
