El Paso Squanders Big Game by Middleton
The inspired effort of El Paso right fielder Kyle Middleton was not enough to prevent a loss, 11-10, to the Puerto Rico Coqui. Middleton went 4 for 5 with a home run and 3 singles. He scored 2 runs and drove in 3. The win went to Kaleab Bourrouag in relief, making him now 1-1. Wendel Lippelt took the loss for El Paso. Chih-hsiung Chiang earned the save for Puerto Rico, his 8th of the year.

Had Milojica Pupovac not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 2nd, Pupovac hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 11-10, in favor of the Coqui.

"We'll put this win in our pocket and go after the next one," said Pupovac.

The defeat makes El Paso 8-10.
