The Santo Domingo Palmchats and El Paso Thunderbirds played an entertaining game for Thunderdome patrons.

The Santo Domingo Palmchats had to overcome a good performance from El Paso pitcher Rade Perisic to claim a 3-2 win at Thunderdome. Perisic went 6 innings and allowed 3 runs. Pavlya Lazarenko, who finished 4th in the ABL in wins with 16 last year, was the winning pitcher. Over 5 innings, he allowed 2 runs on 6 hits, with 4 walks and 2 strikeouts.

With a runner on 2nd and no one out in the top of the sixth inning, pinch hitter Steve Briggs delivered big for the Palmchats. Santo Domingo was trailing 2-0 when he belted a 2-run home run.

"I tell our guys all the time, 'Every pitch is the right pitch if you put it in the right place, you believe in it and have conviction,'" Santo Domingo manager Huck L. Berry said.

Santo Domingo is now 12-8.
