Beijing Emperors pitcher Jaime Torres was in fine form, leading his team past the Rome Generals, 4-1. Torres, who finished 5th in the ABL in wins with 12 in 2141, went the distance for Beijing. He gave up 1 run on 6 hits. For the Generals, the loss makes them 6-14.
Who knows how it would've ended, had it not been for Josh Bence? The 23-year old left fielder Bence stroked a run-scoring double in the top of the eighth inning to put Beijing up, 2-1. For the game, he was 2 for 5, including 1 double and 1 single.
"When you're losing, the game looks more difficult to play than it is," said Rome manager Tx Horns.
