Paris Tumbles Again, Falls, 9-4, to Beijing
|
Conditions were not ideal but Beijing and Paris were able to put their game in the books.
The Beijing Emperors topped the Paris Fleur-de-Lis by a score of 9-4. Leading the way was first baseman Martín Meloncelli. Meloncelli was 1 for 3 with a home run and 2 walks, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once for the Emperors. To call the performance of the 2149 Fleur-de-Lis subpar is an understatement.
With Beijing leading 3-1 in the top of the seventh, Meloncelli batted against Paris pitcher Roberto Lugo. Meloncelli hit a slider to right-center for a grand slam home run. His 4th home run of the season put the Emperors on top, 7-1.
"When their pitchers are leaving stuff over the heart of the plate, we're not missing it," said Beijing manager Kev In.
