Jean-Michel Martinez was instrumental in his team's 5-3 triumph over the Beijing Emperors. The second baseman was 2-5 with 2 home runs, while adding 3 RBI and scoring twice for the Rome Generals. Harvey Yeandle, who finished 4th in the ABL in saves with 28 in 2148, was the winner in relief. His record is now 2-3. The losing pitcher was Tom Davis. Beijing, with the loss, is still a stout 15-6.

The game was still up for grabs in the bottom of the ninth. With two out, Martinez hit a fastball from Tom Davis for a 2-run home run. The Generals, in dramatic fashion, had a walk-off win.

"I'm trying to see the ball big, see the ball up in the zone and put the barrel on it," Martinez told the Rome Today.
