Black Rhinos Suffer One-Run Loss at Tokyo
|
Despite a fine performance by left fielder Darbha Gowd, the Nairobi Black Rhinos lost to the Tokyo Fitzies, 9-8. Gowd was 2 for 4 with a home run and a walk, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2. Reliever Luis Rey picked up the win. His record improves to 1-2. Amrus Mtembei, who is tied for 3rd in the IBL in quality starts with 4, took the loss. Sunil Chander collected save number 3.
Rory Bell, who is tied for 10th in the IBL in stolen bases with 5, helped out the Tokyo cause in the bottom of the second inning with a run-scoring walk. For the game, the second baseman drew 2 walks in 5 trips to the plate. He scored 2 runs.
"You can't hate how you win if you win," said Tokyo skipper Meeks 17.
The defeat makes the Black Rhinos 9-14.
