The Rome Generals earned a close win over the Melbourne Meteors, thanks in part to Gonzalo Valdés. The Rome right-hander, the 5th overall pick in the 2136 draft, played a key role in the 3-2 victory. Valdés, now 1-2, was the winner. In 7 innings, he gave up 4 hits, while striking out 5, walking 2, and allowing 1 run. The Generals raised their record to 15-9.
Angelino Baroncelli had a direct impact on the outcome. Baroncelli contributed a run-scoring single in the top of the first inning to put Rome up, 3-0.
