The skies opened up and the rain fell at Thunderdome.

The Chicago Beefs picked up a win at Thunderdome, dropping the El Paso Thunderbirds, 8-3. Kent Martin, who finished 2nd in the ABL in strikeouts with 211 in 2144, was the difference-maker. The winner was Martin. He threw 7.1 innings of 4-hit ball. The loser was Tien Dung Long.

Who knows how it might've ended, had it not been for Pedro Jiménez? The Chicago left fielder had a run-scoring double in the top of the first inning to put the Beefs on top, 1-0. For the game, Jiménez had 2 doubles and 1 single in 5 at-bats.

"Kent had good stuff. When he did get into a compromising count, he made the most of it," said Chicago manager Mikes L. Son.

The setback makes the Thunderbirds 10-15.
