Brooks Helps Rio de Janeiro Cruise to 10-3 Win
|
The Rio de Janeiro Jaguars powered past the Los Angeles Stars, 10-3, at Field of the Stars. Leo Brooks provided some of the pop. He was 2 for 4 with a home run, a double, and a walk, while scoring 2 times and driving in 5. Britt Leonard, the winner, is now 3-2. He struck out 4 and walked 1 over 7 innings, while allowing 3 runs on 8 hits. The win puts Rio de Janeiro at 15-10.
Rio de Janeiro used a clutch at-bat from Carlos Saldaña to capture the win. The right fielder hammered a 3-run home run in the top of the first inning to put the Jaguars ahead, 3-0. It was his lone hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.
"We did a lot of things right," said Brooks.
