Fitzies Get Clutch Win, 6-5
|
Though the conditions were not ideal, the Tokyo Fitzies and Black Forest Foxes came back from a rain delay to finish their game.
No one was more impactful than Arun Virinchi in the 6-5 Tokyo win over Black Forest. Virinchi, who is tied for 3rd in the IBL in home runs with 7, went 1-3 with a home run and 2 walks, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Anuhlada Phadkar picked up his 5th save of the season.
Virinchi had a game-changing home run in the top of the ninth. On a first pitch changeup from He-ping Chin, he banged a 2-run home run to right, giving the Fitzies a 6-5 lead. It was the 7th home run of the year for Virinchi.
"Winning the game is always the first objective," Virinchi said.
The Foxes, at 8-17, have stumbled out of the gate.
