Fitzies Drop Meteors, 5-4
|
Melbourne left fielder Edgardo Román had a good game, even if his team did not. The Meteors dropped a 5-4 decision to Tokyo at Meteor Crater. Román was 3 for 4 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Jamal Kirinyaga earned the win to go to 4-2. He allowed 4 runs on 8 hits, with 6 walks and 6 strikeouts in 6.1 innings of work. Alastair Bacon nailed down his 11th save.
José Villa had a big 2-run home run for the Fitzies in the top of the sixth inning. With Tokyo leading 3-0 and a runner on 1st, he sized up a fastball from 31-year old right-handed pitcher Kalyanasarman Selvam and punished it. The result was his 9th home run of the season, which put the Fitzies on top, 5-0.
"We did enough to win," said Villa.
With the win, Tokyo is 15-15.
