The El Paso Thunderbirds beat the Detroit Blue Gills, 7-3, with major props going to center fielder Thao Trung. On the day, Trung went 2-4 with a home run and a walk, while scoring 3 runs for the Thunderbirds. Yoichi Matsumoto notched his 1st save of the season. The Thunderbirds, at 19-14, lead by one game in their division.

El Paso used the timely hitting of Kyle Middleton to capture the win. The right fielder socked a grand slam home run in the top of the sixth inning to put the Thunderbirds ahead, 4-2. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a big one.

Middleton called the win "a collective effort."
