Thunderbirds Win at Mexico City, 3-2
|
El Paso pitcher Oisín Raven had a large part in his team subduing the Mexico City Aztecs, 3-2. The opposition could never mount much of a rally against the right-hander. Raven, now 2-1, was the winner. In 6 innings, he gave up 6 hits, while striking out 7, walking 3, and allowing 2 runs. Timothy Adamczak got the save, his 16th in 18 chances.
El Paso used a well-timed hit by António Ribadeneira to capture the win. The third baseman socked a bases-clearing double in the top of the first inning to put the Thunderbirds ahead, 3-0. Though it was his only hit in 4 at-bats, it was important.
"We just didn't score enough runs to win," said Mexico City manager Square Drive.
At 41-39, the Thunderbirds find themselves in second place in the Americas Baseball League North American Division.
