Monks Beaten, 5-3, by Melbourne
|
The Melbourne Meteors defeated the Daegu Monks, 5-3, in Intercontinental Baseball League action at Meteor Crater. Melbourne pitcher Keitaro Ito had a standout performance. Ito, now 4-2, was the winner. In 6 innings, he gave up 6 hits, while striking out 6, walking 2, and allowing 2 runs. Lynn Moore closed out the game, earning his 1st save.
Wes Robinson went 2-3 with a double and was hit by a pitch for Melbourne. The 25-year old first baseman had a key at-bat in the bottom of the sixth. With one out and runners on 2nd and 3rd, he broke a 2-2 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off Juan Medina. It was his 13th RBI of the season.
Melbourne manager Bob Meteors commended his team for delivering "maximum effort."
The Meteors, now 17-18, know that wins in May count the same as wins in September.
