Baseball fans saw a good contest between the El Paso Thunderbirds and Detroit Blue Gills.
El Paso beat Detroit on the strength of starting pitcher Tien Dung Long's fine effort. The right-hander led his team to a win, 4-2. The save went to Timothy Adamczak, number 10 for him.
El Paso used the timely hitting of António Ribadeneira to seize the win. The third baseman stroked a 2-run single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Thunderbirds on top, 3-0. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"Tien Dung pounded the strike zone and made good pitches when he needed to," said El Paso manager AP MP.
El Paso raised its record to 19-17 with the win.
