The Rome Generals had to overcome a good performance from Nairobi pitcher Lynn Moore to claim a 3-2 win at Rhinos Ballpark. Moore went 7 innings and allowed 1 run. Naomi Matsunaga was the winning pitcher. Over 7.2 innings, he allowed 2 runs on 7 hits, with 4 walks and no strikeouts. Harvey Yeandle earned the save, his 23rd, for the Generals.
Rome used a timely hit from Badal Unmesh to get the win. The right fielder delivered a 2-run triple in the top of the eighth inning to put the Generals on top, 3-0. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
Unmesh called the win a test of his team's "mettle."
The win elevated the Generals to 45-41.
