Fitzies Fall to Beijing, 9-3
|
The skies opened up and the rain fell at Gitche Gumee Stadium.
The Beijing Emperors finished off the Tokyo Fitzies, 9-3. Much of the credit belonged to second baseman Gerhard Haar. Haar was 4-5 with a home run, a double, and 2 singles. He scored 2 runs and drove in 3 for the Emperors. Beijing now has a record of 53-38 with the win.
In the top of the third inning, the Emperors grabbed the lead when Martín Meloncelli rapped a two-out single. Beijing was trailing 2-1, when Meloncelli hit a 2-run single off Charlie Copeland to put his team in front, 3-2.
"We swung the bats good throughout the lineup," said Beijing skipper Kev In.
