Emperors Stumble, Lose to Monks
The Daegu Monks beat the Beijing Emperors, 8-1, at Monks Stadium. Starting pitcher Baltasar Alua was a big reason why. He held his opponent in check all game. Alua, who is tied for 5th in the IBL in complete games with 1, went the distance for Daegu. He gave up 1 run on 6 hits. The win elevated the Monks to 19-17.

Daegu second baseman Serafim Bexiga contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the fourth. With two down, he hit a changeup to center field for a 2-run single. It was his 37th hit of the season and put the Monks ahead, 3-0.

"Baltasar is one tough son of a gun," said Daegu manager R Beadle.
