Thunderbirds Turn Away Stars, 2-1

Roger Oldford pitched well enough to win, but it was not to be. The Los Angeles Stars, despite Oldford's fine outing, dropped a 2-1 decision to the El Paso Thunderbirds at Field of the Stars. Chong-yee Ming picked up the save for El Paso, his 2nd of the year. El Paso goes to 50-43, Los Angeles to 41-52.
In the top of the second, the Thunderbirds took the lead, 2-0, when six-time All-Star Gregor Finlater hit a sacrifice fly.
"Tough loss," said Los Angeles manager Alex G. "But we'll learn from it."
