The Detroit Blue Gills did just enough to secure a victory over the Mexico City Aztecs, 7-6, in 10 innings at Tokyo Ballpark. Nobody did more than right fielder Jesús Aguilera. Detroit pitcher Ragnar Arnfeldt got the win, upping his record to 1-1. Karl-Anthony Carpio got the loss. The Blue Gills now own a record of 17-20.

The Blue Gills got a clutch hit from pinch hitter Hasan Syeda. In the bottom of the tenth, he delivered a run-scoring single to win the game for the Blue Gills.

"This one wasn't over until it was over," Syeda said, postgame.
