Daegu pitcher Jamal Kirinyaga did his part in helping his team defeat the Nairobi Black Rhinos, 3-2. The opposition could never get too much going against the right-hander. In 7.1 innings, Kirinyaga surrendered 6 hits, while striking out 6 and walking 3. He allowed 2 runs. Luis Ruíz closed it out for his 24th save.
Karsten Chakiris, who is a two-time All-Star, had a direct impact on the outcome. Chakiris contributed a run-scoring single in the top of the sixth inning to put Daegu up, 3-1.
Daegu manager R Beadle commended his team for exhibiting "no shortage of effort."
The win hiked the Daegu record to 51-44.
