The Detroit Blue Gills had to overcome a big game from El Paso left fielder Gianpaolo Belmondo to leave Tokyo Ballpark with a victory. And they did, winning, 5-3. Belmondo was 4 for 5 with a triple and 3 singles. The Blue Gills are now 36-67.

Detroit took a 5-2 lead on Jesús Aguilera's 32nd double of the season. The 2-run double, which Aguilera hit in the bottom of the eighth, left El Paso pitcher Qian-fu Jiang visibly frustrated.

Aguilera called it "a solid win."
