Voyageurs Handle Generals, Nab 5-1 Win
|
The Oslo Voyageurs picked up a win at The Colosseum, knocking off the Rome Generals, 5-1. On the mound for Oslo was right-hander Gilg Koch. He played a key role in the triumph. Koch, now 10-5, was the winner. In 8 innings, he gave up 8 hits, while striking out 4, walking 3, and allowing 1 run. Their 60-44 record puts the Voyageurs first in the Intercontinental Baseball League Afro-European Division.
Rimbo Alisjahbana was 2 for 4 with 2 singles, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once for Oslo. The former first round draft pick had a key at-bat in the top of the second. With two out and the bases loaded, he broke a 0-0 tie with a 2-run single off Octávio Díaz. It was his 121st hit of the season.
"Our guys are never satisfied," said Oslo manager Marq Ualler.
