Melbourne picked up a win at The Bird's Nest, bumping off the Beijing Emperors, 3-1. Pitcher Kien Tseng was a major reason the Meteors emerged victorious. The winning pitcher was Tseng, now 2-5. He tossed 6 innings of 4-hit ball, while walking 4 and fanning 4. Alastair Bacon was called on to finish, recording his 2nd save.
Melbourne needed the clutch hitting of Yohann Schneider to seal the deal. The center fielder swatted a 2-run home run in the top of the seventh inning to put the Meteors on top, 3-1. For the game, Schneider had 1 home run and 1 single in 3 at-bats.
"Very good win for our guys," said Schneider.
Melbourne, at 46-58, sits in 4th place in the Intercontinental Baseball League Asian Division.
