Melbourne Bats Go Silent in 1-0 Loss
|
The Tokyo Fitzies and Melbourne Meteors put on a pitchers' duel.
Tokyo registered a win at Meteor Crater by beating the Melbourne Meteors, 1-0. Pitcher Guo-feng Lee was one reason why the Fitzies triumphed. Sunil Chander, who is tied for 2nd in the IBL in saves with 30, earned the save for Tokyo.
Erik Andersen, who finished 5th in the ABL in doubles with 43 in 2146, had a direct impact on the outcome. Andersen contributed a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the top of the first inning to put Tokyo up, 1-0.
"There's still time to turn this season around," said Lee.
The Fitzies, at 50-55, inhabit last place in the Intercontinental Baseball League Asian Division.
