In a low-scoring contest, Detroit pitcher Leo Morris was marvelous, enabling his team to nab a 3-1 win. The winner was Morris. He threw 7.1 innings of 1-hit ball. The loser was Tien Dung Long. The Blue Gills now have a record of 40-66.

Rana Kermani had a big 2-run double for the Blue Gills in the bottom of the first inning. With Detroit leading 1-0 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he got a fastball from Tien Dung Long, who led the IBL in home runs with 37 in 2146, and swatted a double to right. It was his 22nd double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Blue Gills ahead, 3-0.

"This game will punch you right in the mouth," said Morris. "My job is to show up and give my team a chance."
